WRC ReportEdit

The Rallye de France of 2007 was a rally that Marcus Gronholm needed to win to have any chance of winning the 2007 Drivers Championship and led after the first 4 stages.

However, Sebastien Loeb steered his Citroen to victory thanks to a chain of 6 fastest stage times. The only person who could really match the Flying Frenchman was his team-mate Dani Sordo. He took 4 fastest stage times, securing his 3rd place. However, Loeb was unstoppable and Gronholm couldn't match his pace. Loeb finished the rally on top, coming home first by 23.7 seconds. Behind Sordo, Jari-Matti Latvala took 4th in front of the Subaru pairing of Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson. Jan Kopecky and Xavier Pons took the final points.

Loeb's victory meant that he had cut Gronholm's championship lead to just 4 points with 3 events remaining.
